Project type

Date

2024

Location

Birmingham AL

Embrace Mothers was a groundbreaking guaranteed income research pilot launched by the City of Birmingham in partnership with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, designed to support single mothers facing economic hardship.

Bre Rudolph provided campaign branding development and marketing design direction for the initiative, helping translate a complex public policy program into an approachable, community-centered visual campaign that prioritized dignity, accessibility, and trust.

The program provided $375 per month for 12 months, to selected participants, with recipients chosen through a randomized third-party selection process.

Public response exceeded expectations.
More than 8,000 applicants applied for the program, demonstrating the urgent need for economic support among Birmingham families. From this overwhelming response, 110 single-mother households were selected to participate, alongside a randomized control group used for research evaluation.

Bre’s campaign branding and marketing materials supported:
• Citywide application awareness and outreach
• Digital and social media campaign launches
• Application enrollment promotion during a limited one-week window
• Community trust-building through inclusive visual storytelling

Evaluation results later showed participants experienced improved financial stability, reduced utility debt, greater childcare access, and increased time with their children during the program period.

Bre Rudolph’s foundational branding system provided the visual framework used to communicate the initiative across platforms and public communications.
